Eisenhower Academy of Global Studies got a slight touch-up recently with the help of volunteers from a local paint store. They rolled up their sleeves to spend the morning repainting parts of the school's playground, basketball court, restrooms, and hallway posts.
The campus revitalization was part of Sherwin-Williams' National Painting Week,
which is when the company's stores around the country pick up their paint brushes and partner with local organizations or schools in need of a fresh coat of color.
In an Algiers Charter press release, the school's charter management CEO, Rene Lewis-Carter, thanked the paint company and said, "Not only does this project instill school pride in our students, it teaches them the importance of teamwork and giving back."
Eisenhower, located in the Algiers community's Tall Timbers neighborhood, was built in 1971 and requires yearly upkeep and maintenance to keep the building in good condition, according to the Algiers Charter. In addition to volunteering, the paint company donated painting materials and more than 50 gallons of paint to the school.
